politics.
bleh.
i have never been a huge fan of politics. usually they come up when my relatives are drunk and everyone yells their opinions while kicking back with four plus beer bottles and a football game. not my idea of a good time.

but this time, i got sucked into the election results.
possibly because i am sad that i couldn't let my own voice be heard [today my dad said that i was almost born on the fourth. DAMMIT. plus i was born on election day 1990. weird.]

i never put much effort into deciding which candidate i would have voted for.
i leaned more toward mccain. i am not big on taxes or socialized medicine.

obama won and i hope he will bring the right kind of change to this country in the next four years.

i also hope that proposition 8 does not pass.
i feel like people who love each other should be able to get married, to have a legitimate union in the eyes of the law.
i don't feel like the ability for two men or two women to marry each other will affect me personally in any way- so why keep them from marrying?

the conflict has been likened to interracial marriage and racism.
today it is common, but it was formerly banned. today people who disagree with interracial marriage are labeled racists.

what will we say about prop 8 in the future?
